  • Do Syn-Mar walls need to be cut during installation?

    Yes. Syn-Mar walls are produced oversized and are cut and scribed during installation to ensure a precise fit.

  • Can Syn-Mar be installed directly to studs?

    No. Syn-Mar walls must be installed over a solid backing such as water-resistant sheetrock or comparable wall board.

  • Is Syn-Mar fragile?

    Syn-Mar has high compressive strength but lower tensile strength, meaning it is strong in use but must be handled properly during transport and installation.

  • How do you cut Syn-Mar?

    Syn-Mar can be cut using a diamond blade on a circular saw, table saw, or angle grinder.

  • Can I use a Syn-Mar base with tile walls?

    Yes. Syn-Mar shower bases are compatible with tile and other wall systems.

  • Can I use Syn-Mar walls with a different shower base?

    Yes. Syn-Mar walls can be used with a variety of shower bases, including tile bases.

  • How big can Syn-Mar shower walls be made?

    Syn-Mar wall panels can be manufactured up to 65 inches wide by 120 inches tall in a single piece.

  • Is Syn-Mar repairable?

    Yes. Minor chips and surface damage can typically be repaired. Structural cracks are not repairable.

  • Can Syn-Mar be used in a steam shower?

    No. Syn-Mar is not designed for steam shower applications.
